Virginia Savage McAlester Tribute

This initiative will honor Virginias’ historic preservation accomplishments in Dallas through:

-A commissioned sculpture dedicated to her attributes to be created by local artist Kat Warwick for placement in the rose garden of the Aldredge House, located in the Swiss Avenue Historic District. This initial project will be unveiled with a dedication ceremony in Spring of 2021. Please note the sculpture location will change from the initial placement in Savage Park, pending approval by the Landmark Commission.

-A Tribute Fund to honor her legacy of preservation advocacy in Dallas by establishing matching grant opportunities to fund programs and surveys in key historic neighborhoods and venues like Fair Park.

-An on-going Virginia Savage McAlester educational program in partnership with the Dallas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and other partners organizations for lectures, scholarship in historic preservation and neighborhood advocacy.
